Themes and stories behind
the program
‘Peter Pan’
It’s a dark night and the stars
are shining bright when Peter Pan flies into a house
through an open bedroom window. He is looking for
his lost shadow. He wakes the children in the house
and persuades them to go flying with him and help
him look for his shadow. Peter teaches them how
to fly with happy thoughts and up they go… flying!
When the children want to return home to their parents,
Peter recalls his own mother and the memory makes
him a little sad. He remembers how his mother used
to sing him beautiful lullabies when he was a baby.
But soon Peter forgets his worries. Before the children
return home, they fly around Never Never Land with
Peter, the fun-loving and carefree boy who will
never grow up.
We have Hook and Tink, so of course we had to have
Peter Pan too... We will be doing ‘The Return of
Captain Hook’ ice-show this spring, so we have some
dresses and programs ready for the show, clever,
ha! We were teasing the girls that they’d have to
wear green tights with the costume. Some of them
probably lost some sound sleep because of that,
but we were just kidding. Our dressmakers had to
make over 200 costumes, because we also had new
practice outfits made, so we were very pleased that
Mari Lassinharju came along to help us. We had a
little trouble getting the green material, but well,
a week is plenty of time to make costumes for two
teams… The newest member of our coaching staff,
Janna Erpilä, has done a lot of work with our Novice
team. We hope that Janna’s energy will be contagious
and will show in the girls’ program.
