Themes and stories behind
the program
‘Cowgirls’
A team of cowgirls are trying to lasso the herd, which is on a stampede.
They have to chase the cows through narrow canyons and over dusty prairies.
You can see the clouds of sand dust everywhere when they chase the cattle
and try to avoid the cactuses along the way. You can hear rifles going off
as the cowgirls try to get back in control of their herd. After a midday
rest under a hot sun and some music they can hear from the saloon, the girls
get a fresh burst of energy to finish their hard day's work. This fast
western story has a happy ending when the herd is tamed and the last runaway
cows are lassoed and finally caught.
Starlights have gone through a lot of big changes since last year. There are
18 new girls on the team. To everyone's surprise they have made enormous
progress in a very short time, a giant step from the first practices they
had together during the spring. All the coaches were blown away when the
team won the first qualifying competition. The team skated their best
program ever. It seems that they love to skate in front of an audience and
showed that they love the thrill of competition and can control their nerves
well. This team will certainly improve towards the end of the season and
become much stronger and more polished. Janna Erpilä has taken a major part
in the team's coaching and program choreography.
